HOW

How this works

Short version: you describe it once, we hand it to one contractor, you decide.

1. You tell us what the equipment is doing

The make and model if you can see the plate, the town, and what it is reading. It takes two minutes and it costs your business nothing. The specifics matter more than they seem: a temperature with a time against it, and whether the coil is iced, is frequently the difference between a technician arriving with the right part and a second visit.

2. We check it and route it

We work out what kind of work it is and which contractors cover your town. Before any contractor receives anything from us, we confirm their New Jersey Master HVACR Contractor licence is active on the state register, and we record the date we checked. A crew taking this site on exclusively provides more than that — see below.

3. One contractor contacts you

One. We pass your request to a single contractor who covers your area and does that type of work, so you are not fielding four calls about the same walk-in while it warms up. If they cannot get to you in the time you need, tell us and we will pass it on.

4. You decide

Who to talk to, whether to get a second quote, and whether to do anything at all. We are not part of that conversation and we take no cut of the job.

What we check, and what that means

  • Current New Jersey Master HVACR Contractor licence, active on the state register
  • EPA Section 608 certification (Type II or Universal) for the technicians who will run the calls
  • Certificate of general liability insurance — New Jersey requires HVACR licensees to carry at least $500,000 per occurrence
  • Workers' compensation coverage, or documentation of exemption

Those checks describe a moment in time. A licence can lapse and a policy can expire. A check is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a warranty of workmanship — ask any contractor for their current certificate of insurance before work begins, and note that New Jersey requires a master HVACR contractor to display their licence number on their vehicles and advertising, so you can generally verify it in your own car park.

What we do not do

We do not perform work. We do not supervise work. We do not inspect equipment. We do not hold your money, and we are not a party to any agreement you sign with a contractor. We cannot tell you what is wrong with your walk-in — only somebody standing in front of it can do that.

How we are paid

A refrigeration contractor pays us a flat monthly fee to receive the requests this site produces. Businesses never pay us anything and we take no percentage of any job. That is worth knowing so you can weigh what we say accordingly: we have an interest in you making contact with a contractor, and no interest at all in which one you pick or whether you hire them.

Toms River Commercial Refrigeration is a referral service, not a commercial refrigeration contractor. Swell Ventures LLC is the operating entity.
